Women seeking our care are most often in a situation which requires the upmost in clinical excellence combined with compassion and sensitivity. We aim to provide experienced and state of the art diagnosis of fetal, maternal and gynecological conditions in a caring and supportive environment.
We believe in double scanning most obstetrical patients in their second and third trimesters at the initial visit - the first part of the scan is usuaully performed by a fully qualified techician or physician in training, and then redone by the chief sonographer (Lane) or one of the physicians. This policy increases the chances that nothing will be overlooked.
One of the three physicians is always present in the office when scans are being performed. Our patients can ask to see the physician at anytime during their visit. The full result of the scan is not necessarily discussed with each patient at the time of the scan since management is the responsibility of the referring physician. We try to answer patients' questions as best we can, keeping in mind that we provide only a diagnostic test and cannot provide information about the care and medical management of the patient.
All abnormal scans are called into the referring physician's office the same day. Patients where immediate management is required are instructed to wait for instructions as we call their physician.
The written report is completed the day of the scan. Every report is mailed out (and or faxed) the same afternoon, to the ordering physician and any other physician designated by the patient.
We try to keep the wait down to less than half an hour on most days. There are days, however, that due to a short staff situation or an emergency in the scan room, we are delayed beyond this goal and we apologize. Our practice is 75% booked ahead of time and 25% same day emergency scans. Because our patients have issues that often need to be addressed within 24 hours, we cannot have a long lead time for an appointment.

Gynecological/pelvic ultrasound Sonographic imaging of the pelvis includes the evaluation of the uterus and ovaries. This procedure is most often used in patients with abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, infertility or a family history of gynecologic malignancy. We use ultrasound to evaluate fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic masses and other gynecologic conditions. We specialize in second opinions for complex cases where additional expertise and experience is needed. |
Amniocentesis Dr. Bromley and Dr. Shipp are specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine and have a great deal of experience and expertise in performing amniocentesis. We also provide ultrasound guidance for local referring physicians who prefer to do their own procedure. |
High-risk obstetrical ultrasound We perform fetal anatomic evaluations for patients at increased risk for fetal anomalies, chromosomal defects and growth issues. This includes fetal echocardiography, fetal and uterine artery Doppler, genetic sonograms, multifetal pregnancy evaluation etc. |
The Genetic Sonogram The genetic sonogram (GS) is a comprehensive fetal ultrasound examination. This includes a detailed fetal structural survey, biometric measurements and a search for "markers" which may adjust a patients risk of carrying a fetus with Down syndrome. A normal GS conveys a 60% reduction in age-based (or AFP-3) risk of Down syndrome. This decrease in risk can then be used to help parents decide whether or not to proceed with invasive testing. Although the risk of Down syndrome can be adjusted using the genetic sonogram, patients must be aware that ultrasound only provides a risk estimate. Ultrasound can not diagnose Down syndrome and cannot definitively exclude Down syndrome. |
Sonohysterography Sonohysterography is a procedure in which a small amount of fluid is put into the uterus. This allows us to distend the walls of the uterus thus providing an optimal image for the detailed evaluation of the lining of the uterus. We are able to diagnose polyps, fibroids impinging on the lining of the uterus and abnormalities in uterine shape. This procedure is most often used in patients with abnormal bleeding per vagina or with infertility issues. |
Obsterical ultrasound We perform all types of fetal and gynecologic ultrasound imaging. |
